Sorry to hear about your experiences. Yes, LinkedIn is far from perfect, and it’s very difficult to run an online network. As far as trying to finance a film with a budget under 1 million dollars, well, unless you work for free or minimum wage, you’re talking dogma or Blair Witch Project. Even Blair Witch had a business plan which asked for 300k, and inflation increased that budget since then.

Lower budget films do exist, but they’re usually made with credit cards. Sure, the film itself may be 250k or so, but then you’ve got to create a website, take it to festivals, take it to film markets, pay legal expenses, do administrative and accounting expenses, etc.

Man, if only i read this before i bought my one, i might have changed my mind. I use Mobile Broadband and was hoping this would work in the Netbook but it doesn’t. So really, i’ll i can use this for is Wi-Fi. I assume i might have to buy a Wi-Fi modem if i want internet at home right? Or i’ll have to go to my loacl library or Mc Donalds to use internet.

I had yet to think about the apparently simple ways a search engine like Google works. The issue is that while Google “indexes” your page multiple times, it still takes a ton of work on your part in order to get your website to become relevent to the spiders. I guess this lends to my understanding of search engines!

I used to work in that call centre aswell, ‘Follow mojo’ even though its crap. 9 times out of 10 a power cycle on the router fixed the ‘internet light on’ issue, but we had to take them through optomizing browser, If that place was up to me people would have to have at least a gcse in ict, and need 1 years customer service experience. Its ridiculos. I left last month due to the fact that i hated lieing to customers.

I used iSnare.com for a couple articles – months later no major traffic from them. I didn’t like how the articles were re-submitted to every lame auto-generated blog site on the net (eg. ones with the original wordpress theme).

Also, does it go without saying that you shouldnt post the article on your actual blog as well?

Submitting to article directories is a good way to get a new website or blog indexed quickly.

Articles need to be written with the correct keyword density and have a search engine friendly title. There are sometimes ways to make your article appear to be more popular than it actually is!

Make sure (if allowed by the directories T&C) that you add a link to your website in the first line. This is because some websites only post the title and the fist few lines followed by “read more” or similar. Avoid putting your free articles on your own website. it will be deemed dual content when someone else with higher PR publishes it. It will also be you who gets slapped by the search engines. Read the most popular articles and the least popular articles and see if you can spot the difference between them!

The most annoying thing about submitting free articles is when “bumholes” publish your articles but take out the links back to your website.

Perhaps it depends on what you’re promoting? I am interested in using any and every form of marketing I can to push my search engine out to the massess… I’d like to know what you were marketing when you failed… maybe the answer is not in the tools but what they were used for… one thing’s true: press releases have a function that goes far beyond “seo” aspects of marketing, and there are lots of very rich people who put press marketing right at the top of their list of ways to get free exposure.

i had sky broadband installed in september 2008 along with sky plus and multi room, 4 weeks after installation i still had no internet signal to the router they provided after many phone calls to the premium number they send a second router ran many tests and still nothing they then blamed bt and a bt engineer was sent out to check the newely installed landline and all connections the engineer changed the main telephone socket and managed to get the router to work after going back to the exchange and changing the wires at thier end. finally i had the internet however the speed at its highest is 900kbps less than 1/2 a megabyte, to the supposed 16megabyes per second that sky not only advertise but continue to charge me for, i phone again to complain and was told it was the distance from my house to the exchange however the exchange is less then 15 minuites walk from my house, it is therefore my opinion that sky cannot and do not have the capability to provide broadband of speeds higher than 2mbps even on thier 16md package for what ever reason, i was previuosly on the 20megabyte virgin package and recieved up to 15-20mbps consistantly with no problems, im gutted i changed to sky and will now atempt to recover all costs from sky for not providing the service they promiced to provide and swich back to virgin who allthough arnt great,!! do provide more than sufficiant broadband with barely any hassle, i hope this has been usefull, good luck to anyone with this same nightmare

@christel I am also thinking of moving to South France. In fact, I am looking to buy property there. The 3G story for France seems consistent. I think the mobile operators in the specific areas will be able to answer some questions. It is critical to get either ADSL or 3G for us. Any more info on your lake’s internet access story would be sweet.

I belive it does. Article submission is a great way to get your oppnions and thoughts out. It also allows you to get the needed feedback and comments you need for your work when you are a new or even an established writer to better yourself. Recently I discovered this new site einformationsource, it’s great. It even allows you to leave links and promote products.

Your article made me smile on several occasions, thank you. On the other hand I can see that technology is not quite as far advanced as we think. I have wrecked my brain to find a solution to my Internet problem. Next year I will live in the south west of France on my lake with no electricity, hence no Telephone.I bought a small computer, which was advertised as working EVERYWHERE, where there is a mobile phone signal. Afterwards I found out, it only works in the UK for the 20 hour FREE offer a months, if I use it in France, it will cost me £15 for one hour!! Now I am looking into a dongle but have my daubts,having my fingers burnt once already.I think, it’s all still promises and no delivery abroad. Maybe one day, they will come up with a solution.
